So What Exactly Is NLP
You may know NLP as neuro linguistic programming, but if that name doesn't ring a bell then there is a more simplistic explanation.
Modeling Excellence The theory behind NLP is to construct your own mindset in a way that mimics the patterns of extremely successful people being that they too have communication aptitude that in part is a cause of their success.
Reprogramming Your Communicative Abilities By taking your existing ability to interact with others and in effect repositioning the way you communicate, the result should lead to enhanced social aptitude coupled with a variety of benefits. Mimic the actions of those who excel in order to accomplish one's own achievements.
Shyness A Disease O.K, so this is where my opinion comes into play, but in fairness you'd be hard pressed to find someone who actually believed that shyness comes with a bevy of benefits - Because it doesn't. Frankly shyness is an awful affliction that keeps us from enjoying social entertainment, new found acquaintance and even love. There's also the little matter of crushing the assertive nature that protects us from being manipulated or taken advantage of.
Fighting Average One day, some of us just wake up and decide that average is just not good enough and that we need more than that. NLP can help take an average mindset into the the realm of extraordinary (with a healthy dose of effort). |
