Unique Content

What is an Unique Article? Most directories publish an article that is more than likely residing at quite a few other directories. This means the writer gets more backlinks for their work - In particular more links for one article. The problem for the directory is the query of how the search engines algorithm calculates the value of the article in question. Many webmasters believe that duplicate content come with a punishment on the value of the link from it, of course this is merely theory. Unique content however avoids this pitfall by being in essence completely original. This would mean that according to some webmasters that a good piece of properly keyword content would be rated very well and the links to and from it would be valued higher. I think that if this theory doesn't hold merit now, that it soon will in time as Google and company learn more masterful ways to figure out exactly which website hosted a piece of content first. I have read talk about there being the possibility of a website where users can submit their articles immediately after there first release thus informing the engines of their unique properties at which stage the SE's would favor the submitted articles over the one's who don't. This to me is an interesting concept but boy would they need some server space (although I think Google could handle it).
