Link Dilution
By Aj James
What Is Link Dilution This is a theory that posits that the more out bound links on a page, the less value they have. This would mean that if you write an article and put in a couple of links on a dofollow article directory, then 1 link would carry more weight than 1 of 2 links. In other words the search engines devalue the links and spread the value over the total sum of links. If this is in fact the case then links should be carefully considered when there is the option to put more than one in a page. Duplicate Content Value Dilution Because many article writers submit the same article to many directories, the search engines don't want to have the same article show up in the SE results. Because of this it is believed that Google is now devaluing links from duplicate articles. What this means is that other than the traffic you get from mass submissions, the link building value won't be there. All links that are not in the original article will be non-valued. Of course what defines original is anybody's guess as Google hasn't mastered the art of this with any degree of efficiency. Once again this should change the face of link building as writers will be scrambling to write unique content articles and submit them to restore that old link building basic. If you are considering mass submissions then perhaps spend your time on something that might wield greater results in the future...unique content. |
