Is Spinning Content A Writing Mistake?

By Sam Clements

Should I spin content?

This question came up recently on a forum that I frequent and at the time, I said no and decreed that it was a bad idea, especially if you want to have an air of quality about your work.

My theory is that you need to get followers to make money and to get followers you have to keep an integrity about the way you write.

But...

Now then, this is all very well and good if you're an internet marketer or a blogger, but if you're a straight out affiliate marketer, who is looking to score as many links as you possibly can then you might very well benefit from using spun content to blast all the article directories with 200 variations of the same article.

In theory it may work

This will help you dominate any keywords you're looking to target. By doing so it will also show that you don't care about how bad your articles appear to be.

Do They Get Indexed

Even if you do it, there's no guarantee you'll be indexed on some backwater directory anyway, so it may not be worth it at all.

No Spin - No Worries

If you are a really ethical marketer then you may have sleepless nights if you do spin content though.

I guess that's not a problem if you aren't looking to build a following on the back of exceptional quality, which in fairness a lot of marketers aren't looking to do.

All's Fair in...

The difference between a blogger and an out and out affiliate marketer is a thin line, but only you will know what side you fall into.

So if you're worried about looking bad, it all depends on whether spinning articles suits your mode of website content.

Only you can make that decision as to whether unique content will beat out spun content for your personal needs.

The war for traffic is truly amongst us so it's ethics versus dollar signs..or is it?

This is a great article - greater than your rating indicates. I have to believe that one can indeed make a lot of money while keeping ethical standards.

You should write more on this subject. All of us in this game needs to know the difference and needs to be confronted with the choice.
