Backlink Experiment

The Truth About Links Isn't that what we all hope to find? I for one think there has been a lot of confusion about links and how they work, but I'm going to write this article as if you already know the basics of link building and how link value works. For those who don't: *To rank for a keyword, you need links to that page
*Links are like a vote of confidence that the search engines trust *Some links are far more valuable than others *Some links are bad!
Ok - The Experiment Just how much are links worth? Are 100 pr 0 links worth 1 pr 10 link? More? Less? We wanted to find out, so here's what I did:
Two Blogs Yes, two blogs of similar key words. We created them and made them roughly identical. Then....
We added (paid for) 5 Pr 7 backlinks to one and added 100 pr zero links to the other, all from similarly relevant sites. The first conclusion:
At first the high pr links led to good showings for the second blog and we got a little traffic. We had spent $400 on these links, but the traffic was not enough to capitalize and profit.
The second blog did well after 2 weeks, bringing in more daily hits than the more expensive option. The total spent on the low pr links - $35
What is my conclusion Well, this is still a work in progress, with low pr links winning thus far. The next step will be to repeat this experiment with $400 worth of low pr links and to see what happens.
I have always valued ALL links, so this slightly proves where I am at, but I can't judge yet.
