Article Directories - Theories
By Aj James
There are many theories about online marketing Many, many theories indeed. Which ones are proven and which are pure speculation - Well it's pretty subjective, but common sense can be applied to some instances. Chances are you submit articles to article directories and gain a few backlinks, but did you have a suspicion about the value of 4 links versus 1. Not all things a as obvious as the basics, but here's a subject that's only really started to be taken seriously lately. Link Dilution This is the effect of too many links on one page. Some very savvy marketers believe that it isn't necessarily beneficial to cram an article with 3-4 links just because you can. The premise of link dilution is that if you have one out bound link on a page it has the same value algorithm as 4 links combined would. In other words the links share the value thus diluting themselves. If this theory holds merit then if you want a strong link then you should only put one on a page - Even if you can put 4. It's unsure right now whether this is the case, but it would make sense if you think about the values and how a search engine should evaluate data. That doesn't mean that it's for sure though. What To Do? For me I'm hedging my bets and only putting 2 links ever at any stage on an article (including author bio). This way either system will be relatively ok by me. |
